Pál Joensen – inspiration to all

‘Jarnmaðurin’ Aleksandar Sørensen-Markovic skrivar her á elite-ciao.com, at hann nú brúkar søguna um Pál Joensen til at halda fokus og venja hart, tá ið onnur grenja um at tey mugu suðureftir til at kunna venja ordiligt. Hesin Aleksandar hevur eitt 9. pláss í elitubólkinum á Challenge Copenhagen 2010 sum besta úrslit, ið er triathlon á ironman-teininum: 3.8 km svimjing, 180 km súkkling og síðani eitt marathon.

I might be doing a bike session tonight: 5 x 5min really hard. I was a bit unmotivated but then read about Pál and my focus is now where it needs to be – on what matters, training hard and having fun with what I got.

Her er allur teksturin hjá Sørensen-Markovic:

It’s getting towards end of winter, and most cyclists in North Europe are willing to sell just about anything for a week in the sun.

I am a big fan to training inside on my bike on an indoor trainer and I am sure this seems strange to some people.

Now and then people tell me I need to be in the sun all the time but I am sure they are wrong.

I know this because of guys like Pál Joensen.

“Pál who?” you might think but let me fill you in.

Pál Joensen is a swimmer from Faroe Islands and is on this way to becoming the worlds best swimmer.

Pál if from Vágur, a village of 1350 people and is living and training there.

On Faroe Island there are no 50 meter pools so he trains in a 25 meter pool with only 4 lanes – very different conditions compared to his international competitiors.

He is the only top swimmer where he lives and you would think odds are stacked against him.

They have a plan, they believe in hard work and not fancy surroundings and for the odds – seems nobody told Pál about them because he keeps improving and keep going towards the Olympics.

He doesn’t want to move because he likes where he lives and have come to take advantage of his surroundings.

I might be doing a bike session tonight: 5 x 5min really hard.

I was a bit unmotivated but then read about Pál and my focus is now where it needs to be – on what matters, training hard and having fun with what I got.

Happy training.
